Educational Tour of PU Law Students in District Jail
Jaunpur : As part of a series of Seva Pakhwada programmes organised by Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, the students of Dattopant Thengri Law Institute were held at the district jail on Saturday.
During the tour, the students witnessed various aspects related to the functioning of the jail administration, rehabilitation programmes of prisoners and prison arrangements. The purpose of this study tour was to provide students with practical information about the criminal process, criminology and justice system so that they can also connect legal education to the real conditions of society by not just limiting it to the theoretical level.
The educational tour was led by District Jail Superintendent Pawan Kumar Trivedi.
He briefed the students about the structure of the prison, security arrangements, routine of detainees and the corrective and re-rehabilitation programmes conducted for them. He also informed that efforts are made to re-connect prisoners with the mainstream of society through education, skill development training and counselling services. "Speaking on the occasion, Prof." Vinod Kumar thanked the district superintendent. The teacher, Dr. Vanita Singh, Dr. Inderjit Singh, Dr. Rajan Tiwari, Pragati Singh and Dr. Shubham Singh's presence was remarkable.
